How it started – John was raised in a spirit-filled home. He worked in his parents’ flower shop after school, on weekends and every holiday. While working for his parents, he started a masonry business and learned from an early age what it meant to be entrepreneurial. John was influenced by his parent’s heart for missions and in particular his mother’s zeal for the Lord and for life. Her enthusiasm and vivacious love for people are part of who John is today. John was saved at the age of four and attended Melody Land Christian Center before he left home. Always a student, John got a Bachelor of Science degree from Humboldt State University in biology and then spent 20 years running and developing his own construction and development firm. During this time he attended Vineyard Christian Fellowship with 2000 people in Lancaster pastured by Brent Rue. He administrated the missions program and organized and led the Sunday school and youth ministries.

In the late 80’s John felt God calling him to help administrate a church and assumed it would be in Lancaster. As it turned out, through God’s direction, he and his partner divested the construction business and moved to Bend, Oregon. The move afforded John the time to write and publish a book on meteorology entitled, The Key to Your Weather Forecast. John and his wife Jodi attended a Vineyard church where John administrate the sale of the church’s property and to design and construct a new facility. Two years later the 13,000 sq. ft. ministry building was completed. In 2003 the senior pastor retired and John oversaw the sell of the facility and was asked to invest the funds on behalf of the board. John was also asked to manage the investment of finances for several institutions and individuals because of prior experience and success in the stock market and real estate investments. This experience in construction and real estate development dates back to 1968. Investments constitutes his current financial services business.

During the construction of the 13,000 sq. ft. ministry building, John became very interested in redirecting his education in the field of Biblical studies. His new focus was in the area of Hebraic foundations of the Bible, a somewhat misunderstood or ignored area for many people. This study has brought additional insight, helping to bring excitement and renewed understanding of our responsibility for increased relationship with God. His passion in this area also helped him publish his second book, Devils and Demons, and the Return of the Nephilim. This book focuses on the concept of covenant relationship and informs the reader about the two kingdoms that are offering relationship. John is currently a teaching pastor in a Messianic Jewish congregation in Bend made up of Christians that have an interest in viewing scripture in light of this Hebraic approach.

Personal Passion – John’s passion is knowing God. He’s a nut for Hebraic insights that shed light on God’s Word. He’s written two books

-         The Key To Your Weather Forecast,

-         Devils, Demons, and the Return of the Nephilim, and

-         A third book on understanding the book of Revelation from the Hebrew perspective is in progress.

John is a student who loves to integrate and manage technical systems amidst the adventure of discovering new ideas, meeting new people, and doing new things every day.

Personal Benefit – As an adult, John has never worked a job for an hourly rate and isn’t suited to survive that environment. He loves sharing His spiritual and entrepreneurial enthusiasm with others and he loves applying his passion to the stock market and real estate investments. He watches the stock market continually every day. And lastly, he loves the freedom his prosperity provides being his own boss with time to be a teaching pastor and time to counsel those God brings his way.

Value to Others – John’s primary message is the restoration of right relationships with God, other people, and finances. He helps people connect with their role. One of his goals is to bring the refreshing excitement of God’s perspective back to the church.

On the financial side John simply provides higher returns. Most brokers have a buy and hold strategy for stocks, mutual funds, and bonds with a return usually averaging 5-10% per year. John targets stocks that are the cream of the earnings crop (fundamentals) and mixes that with technical analysis to make shorter term trades. This approach has offered annual returns better than the buy and hold strategies. With his real estate experience, John also finds lower risk interest income opportunities through the investment in Trust Deeds secured by real estate. These returns offer annualized rates in the rage of 18-25%. Most of these real estate investments have a three to twelve month duration. He values his relationship with his clients and believes in keeping in contact on a regular basis.

Business Upside – John charges 20% of the net gain for the investments he makes on behalf of others. There is no fee if there is no return. Investments are made in the name of the investor with an agreement that John manages the account. His investors appreciate the way he keeps them informed of opportunities and moves in either real estate or the stock market.

Business Downside – Obviously the stock market can go up and down. John stayed even in his worst year and made 100% returns in his best year for the accounts he manages. Real estate loans can go bad. However, John maintains a loan to value ration of no worse that 70% which offers some additional security for the trust deed loan. In 20 years of experience he’s had some late payments, but never a foreclosure. But obviously, the past is not a guarantee for the future.

Vision for the Kingdom – One of John’s goals is to complete his next book, with the goal of changing the perspective of the church regarding Jesus’ return. God is also using him to network financial increase with missions opportunities.

Impact from Releasing Kings – John knows Harold and has reviewed one of his prior books as well as our web site (www.releasing-kings.com). After talking with John Garfield, he found lots of entrepreneurial synergism with our message and was excited about the vision to release kings.

How John Can Help You – Because of John’s 27 years of counseling experience, he enjoys helping people through all types of personal problems including marriage issues, depression, anger management, and financial issues. He is a great resource for advice on business start-ups or expansions. His financial services can be tailored to diversify and increase the returns for those that take advantage of his ministry.
